Part of the farm is located within Baru Volcano National Park (BVNP), where the farm's coffee is grown at elevations ranging from 1,550m (5,100ft) to 1,800m (5,900ft). With an average elevation of 1,675m, the farm enjoys young volcanic soil, untouched forests, and a unique microclimate with temperatures, winds, and precipitation different from other farms in the region. Its location within the BVNP (Protected Ecological Reserve) adds to its appeal. This coffee is produced under conditions that are unique even on a global scale for several reasons. First, the farm is grown at a very high altitude and on fertile, young volcanic soil. The climate here is cool, the dry season is dry (in contrast to Lamastus Family Estate's other coffee estates), and the rainfall during the wet season is very high, averaging 3,200mm/125 inches. The coffee trees are surrounded by virgin cloud cover in virgin forest, which results in cool nights and low temperatures that extend the ripening period by a month (thus extending the bean's development). These unique growing conditions, like those at Elida, are reflected in the exceptional coffee.
